IDMinder Privacy Policy
Effective October 15, 2026.
This policy covers the IDMinder software. Buying, payment, our website, email and your other choices are covered by our general Privacy Policy.
What the software sends and why
When IDMinder starts, it checks with unitedtechs.com for updates, confirms that the serial number is registered and still valid, and checks which computer the license is on, because a license runs on one computer at a time (License Agreement, Sections 2 and 10). It sends your serial number, the program version, and an installation ID. It never sends your name, email, call sign, recordings, logs or settings.
What the installation ID is: IDMinder makes it on your computer from the computer name, your Windows user name and the machine ID Windows gives the computer. It mixes those with your serial number and a fixed product value (a "salt") and runs them through a one-way scramble (SHA-256). Nobody, including us, can turn the result back into your computer name, user name or machine ID, and the same computer gives a different ID for each serial number.
What it's used for: only to know which computer your license is on, to run the 30-day overlap when you move to a new computer, to apply the once-a-year move limit, and to stop the license on a computer it has moved away from. We don't use it for advertising, sell it, or combine it with anything else about you.
How long we keep it: for each serial we keep the ID of the computer the license is on, the new computer's ID during a move, the dates each was first and last seen, the IDs of up to 20 computers the license moved away from (so they can't take it back), and the date the last move started (a license can move once every 365 days). We keep these while your license is active and delete them when we reset your license at your request, or within 90 days after the license ends. A short log of each check (time, serial, version and result, without the installation ID) is kept for up to 30 days.
Moving to a new computer: start IDMinder on the new computer while online. Both computers work for 30 days, then only the new one. A license can move once every 365 days, counted from the start of the last move; a computer the license moved away from can't take it back by itself. If you need to move sooner, or a move happens that you didn't intend, contact us and we'll fix it.
Going online: a new installation must connect once before first use. After that it works offline for 30 days after its last successful check. UnitedTechs does not push a mid-session shutdown; an invalid serial, or a computer the license moved away from, is enforced at the next startup check. Your settings and license acceptance record stay on your computer.
If you get a refund, your license ends when the refund is issued and you agree to delete the software.
