What we collect
- When you buy: your name, email address, and order details. We use them to deliver your license, provide support, keep business and tax records, and contact you about your purchase.
- Payment: Stripe processes your card, and we never receive your full card number. See Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
- When you email us: whatever you include in your message.
When you visit our website
- Contact form: when you use our contact form, we receive your name, email address, and message. The form is handled by our website's server functions, and we use what you send only to answer you.
- Server logs: like most websites, our web host, Cloudflare, keeps standard server logs, such as your IP address and browser type.
- Cookies: we don't use advertising or analytics cookies.
- Checkout: when you buy, you pay on Stripe's checkout page. Stripe runs its own fraud checks there under its privacy policy.
- Do Not Track: our site doesn't respond to Do Not Track signals. We don't allow third parties to track you across other websites.
Our software
Each software product we sell has its own privacy policy, with that product's privacy terms in it. Each product's page links to its privacy policy.
Newsletter
We send marketing email only to people who opt in. You can unsubscribe anytime using the link in every email.
What we don't do
We don't sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the business, such as payment processing, email delivery, and web hosting, or when the law requires it. If the business is sold or merged, customer information may transfer to the new owner, who must honor this policy.
Children
Our site and products aren't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you're under 13, a parent must buy for you.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards and will notify you as required by law if your information is involved in a breach.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information by writing to us through our contact form. We keep purchase records as long as tax law requires.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new date. If the change is material, we'll also email buyers.

UnitedTechs Community memberships (applies ONLY to community subscription purchases and community accounts)
This section applies only if you create a UnitedTechs Community account or buy a community membership (unitedtechs.net, managed on unitedtechs.com). It does not change anything above for other products or visitors.
| Data | Why | How long we keep it |
|---|---|---|
| Email address (encrypted) and a one-way hash of it | Sign-in links, codes, receipts, renewal reminders, security and moderation notices (transactional only, no marketing); one free account per email; ban enforcement | While the account exists; deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request. The hash is kept longer only if tied to a ban or an under-15 block. |
| Date-of-birth age check | Community accounts are 15+. We check your date of birth at sign-up and keep only the result (15+ confirmed). We do not store your date of birth. For members under 18, we keep only the month they turn 18, so paid checkout can require a parent or guardian, plus the age confirmation given at paid checkout. | Result: while the account exists. If sign-up is blocked as under 15, a hash of the email and a device identifier are kept so the block can't be bypassed: up to 3 years. |
| Stripe payment records: customer and subscription IDs, charges, refunds, renewal dates, billing country/ZIP for sales tax (card numbers are held by Stripe, never by us) | Billing the yearly subscription, refunds, disputes, tax | 7 years (tax and accounting), then deleted. |
| Two-factor data: authenticator secret (encrypted), backup codes (hashed), email one-time codes | Protecting your account | Secret and backup codes: until you reset 2FA or delete the account. Email codes: expire after 10 minutes, deleted within 30 days. |
| Moderation records: post reviews, strikes, suspensions, bans, appeals, reports, refund requests, account-recovery events | Enforcing the community rules and handling appeals | Strikes count for 90 days; records are kept 2 years, and bans for as long as the ban lasts. |
| Hashed IP and device identifiers | Rate limits, sign-up abuse prevention | 30 days, unless tied to a ban or an under-15 block. |
| Reply notifications: threads you follow, your notification settings, and when we last emailed you about a thread | Emailing you (transactional only, no marketing) when a moderator approves a reply in a thread you started or follow. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and you can change this on your account page. | While the account exists; follows end when you unfollow or unsubscribe. |
| Ask a question: the optional reply email you leave with a question | One email when a moderator publishes the answer, with an unsubscribe link. The address is never shown on the site. | Kept with the question in our private queue; if you unsubscribe we keep only a one-way hash so we don't email you again. |
| Public display name and approved posts | Shown publicly on unitedtechs.net | Until removed by you, by moderation, or on account deletion. Posts by lapsed members stay up. |
Service providers for community memberships: Stripe (payments, sales tax), Resend (transactional email), Cloudflare (hosting, Turnstile spam protection). Posts are screened by an AI moderator before publishing. To delete your community account, reply to any community email.
