These terms apply to our websites: unitedtechs.com (including the store, member accounts and Ask), hamradio.unitedtechs.com and unitedtechs.net (the UnitedTechs Community). They are offered by D Bell Holdings, L.L.C., doing business as UnitedTechs, a Louisiana limited liability company ("we," "us"). By using the sites you agree to them.
Software has its own terms. Each UnitedTechs program (for example, IDMinder) has its own License Agreement and Software Privacy Notice. They ship with that program and are posted on our Software documents page. Those documents alone govern how you may install and use the program, its license checks and its updates. If they conflict with these terms about the software, the program's documents control.
1. Where the sites are available
The sites, the store and memberships are for people located in the United States and its territories. We don't serve or sell to other locations.
2. Free content and tools
Our articles, digests, tools and calculators are free and provided for general information. They are not legal, safety, medical, engineering or professional advice. Tool results can be wrong or out of date, so check the official sources they cite, and follow the law, your license, your employer's procedures and the manufacturer's instructions. We may change or remove any tool or page.
3. Ask
You can submit questions on our Ask pages. Answers are researched and drafted by AI agents and reviewed by our AI moderator before publishing, and they cite official sources, but they may still contain mistakes and are not legal or professional advice. We decide which questions to answer and publish. Don't include personal information in a question. By submitting a question you let us publish it (edited for clarity) with its answer.
4. Store purchases
- What you buy. A software purchase is a license to use the program under its License Agreement, which you can read on the product page before you buy. Each program shows its agreement during installation, and if you don't accept it you're entitled to a full refund.
- Who can buy. You must be 18 or older, or have a parent or guardian buy and accept these terms for you.
- Price, payment and tax. Prices are in U.S. dollars. Our checkout uses Stripe Managed Payments, so Stripe is the merchant of record for the payment: Stripe processes your payment, calculates and collects any sales tax shown at checkout, and handles payment disputes, under Stripe's own terms. The software license or membership itself comes from us. We never see your full card number.
- Delivery. Software is delivered electronically by email after payment. If it doesn't arrive within 24 hours, use our contact form.
- Refunds. Software refunds follow our Software Refund Policy. Membership refunds follow our Refund Policy and section 5.
5. Community memberships
- What a membership is. A membership lets you post in a section's board on unitedtechs.net. Accounts and billing are managed on unitedtechs.com. Reading is free and public.
- First 100 free. The first 100 members in each section get that section free forever. A free founding bundle covers every section and takes one spot in each section that still has room. A founding membership lasts as long as the account exists and isn't banned. One free account per email address.
- After the first 100. Once a section's 100 free spots are taken, membership in that section costs $1.00 per year, or $3.00 per year for all sections, plus any sales tax shown at checkout. Paid memberships renew automatically each year until you cancel. We email a reminder 30 days, 7 days and 1 day before each renewal. You can cancel anytime from your account page; cancelling stops the next renewal.
- Age. You must be 15 or older to have an account; we check date of birth at sign-up. Members aged 15 to 17 may claim free founding memberships. A paid membership for a member under 18 must be bought by a parent or guardian, who confirms at checkout: "I am 18 or older, or I am a parent/guardian buying for a member aged 15-17."
- Refunds. If you are not banned, we refund a membership charge when you ask, within 60 days of that charge, including after a suspension. Refunds are never automatic. A banned member has no automatic or on-request refund; see section 6 and our Refund Policy.
- Lapsed memberships. If a paid membership ends, you can no longer post in that section, but your published posts stay up.
6. Posting rules and moderation
- Every new thread and reply is screened by our AI moderator before it appears. Appeals and hard cases go to our lead AI agent and then the owner. Published posts can be taken down later if they break the rules.
- Posting requires a signed-in member with two-factor sign-in, and a Cloudflare Turnstile spam check.
- Our Community rules (no personal information, be civil, no dangerous or illegal instructions, no spam or scams, stay on topic, age 15+) are part of these terms.
- Strikes. A post may be held with a private note and no strike. Strike 1 is a warning; strike 2 is a 7-day posting suspension; strike 3 is a 30-day posting suspension; strike 4, or a severe act (threats, hate, doxxing), is a ban. Strikes count within a rolling 90 days, and each action can be appealed once, using the link in the notice email (it works without signing in, including while banned). Appeals of warnings and suspensions are reviewed by our AI moderator, with escalation to our lead AI agent and the owner if needed.
- Ban appeals. A banned member may appeal the ban once and state their case. The owner reviews every ban appeal personally, with the violations in front of him, and decides one of three things: the ban stays, the member is refunded, or the ban is lifted.
- Posts after a ban. When a member is banned, we remove the posts that broke the rules. Their posts that didn't break the rules stay up.
- You keep ownership of what you post, and you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display and moderate it on our sites. Member posts are the member's own opinion, not advice from us.
- For takedown and copyright requests, use the contact form with a link to the post and the reason.
7. Sponsor ads
Sponsor ads are section-matched, at most one or two per page, and hosted on our own site with no third-party ad scripts. A sponsor ad is not our endorsement. Sponsor sites have their own terms. Advertising is arranged through our Advertise page.
8. Acceptable use
Don't try to break, overload or scrape our sites at scale, or get around the location filter, spam protection or sign-in, and don't use the sites for anything illegal.
9. No warranty
The sites, tools and content are provided "as is," to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, you waive the warranty against redhibitory defects under Louisiana Civil Code articles 2520 through 2548 and the warranty of fitness for use under article 2524. This doesn't limit any refund rights you have under our refund policies or section 5.
10. Limitation of liability
Our total liability for any claim related to the sites or a purchase is limited to the amount you paid us for that purchase (or $0 for free content and tools). This limit doesn't apply to intentional or gross fault, physical injury, or any liability that can't be limited by law.
11. Changes
We may update these terms by posting a new version here with a new date. Material changes to paid memberships will be emailed to members before they take effect.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by Louisiana law. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Louisiana, unless the law of your place of residence requires otherwise.
