Reference only. Compiled from public state board pages and possibly out of date. Always confirm with your state licensing board. Not legal advice and not a substitute for training, the NEC and local codes, or your employer's procedures. Where we could not confirm a value on an official page, we show Check with board and a link instead of guessing.

How to use this
- Many states license electrical contractors statewide but leave journeyman and master licenses to cities, parishes or counties. When a state board says that, we show it.
- NEC edition: states adopt code editions on their own schedule. We link the NFPA NEC enforcement maps rather than copy a value that can change.
- To find a board for a state not listed yet, use the CareerOneStop License Finder.
